Their Love Story

When you say love at first sight, I truly believe that mine and Steven’s love story began that way. It was December of 2019 and both Steven and I were in two different places in life. I had been single for going on 3 years and I had honestly just given up on love. I would honestly pray every night and just hope the good Lord had someone for me someday. Steven had just gotten out of a long term relationship and was not searching for anything or anyone.

It all began as I was boarding a flight to Vegas in McAllen, Texas. We were both going for the weekend to enjoy the Super Bowl of Rodeo, which is called the National Finals Rodeo. As I was boarding and walking down the aisle (behind my parents), I noticed this EXTREMELY handsome guy. I smiled at him, and he smiled back! I felt those immediate butterflies, and yes for a man I had no idea of who he was. In my head all I could do was just say wow. I mean when I say gorgeous, I mean he is the prettiest, most well kept man I had ever seen. And yes I said pretty. Lo and behold we were actually sitting right behind him, so I fortunately got to stare at him the whole flight over, but he will actually say I had fallen asleep which he noticed and stated he saw drool coming down my face, which could possibly be true.

When we landed Vegas, I didn’t know what to do or what to think. Would I ever see him again? Should I “shoot my shot?”……Well yah, all that went out the door when none of that happened and he walked off the plane and we went our separate ways. I assume we both had a great weekend in Vegas. My parents and I enjoyed our time shopping, watching the rodeo, my girlfriend even showed up for a 24 hr. Trip and we had a blast till about 4:00 am the morning I was leaving. Come time to go home and of course I had to be at the airport at 6:00 am for the early flight home. I rallied on an hour of sleep and got to the airport looking like a hot mess. And after waiting in line at Starbucks, who is the first person I see waiting for our flight to go home…. Steven!!!! I knew at this moment this was a sign. His beautiful smile melted my heart, made my knees quiver, and those butterflies came back again. I went to find a seat far away from him so he wouldn’t see how much of a mess I truly was, but not too far so I would have the chance to still see him.

This time it was time to go home and my parents and I were literally the first people to board. We sat in the first seats of the plane so we could get off first when we landed. I purposely kept my head up and didn’t lay down so I could see him again. (Literally the only interaction we had was visual). And once again smiles were exchanged. I told myself, when we get home, I’m going to talk to the guy at the baggage claim, I do not care. The whole plane ride, all I could do was think of different scenarios and different ways to say hi. Fast forward to the baggage claim, and I got my bags, as did he. As we walked past each other, I was SPEECHLESS! I FROZE! I got so nervous and nothing k had rehearsed came out. I felt so defeated. The man I had unknown butterflies for, was walking out of my life and it was my fault. Little did I know, Steven had something up his sleeve.

Moving on to the new year, we are now in January 2020 and I received a direct message on my instagram account. The message read, “Hi, were you on a flight to Vegas in December?” Trying to be cool and not open it right away, I started freaking out! I knew he had found me. What I hadn’t known is that Steven saw me talking to mutual friends at the airport and had asked them about me. He found me on instagram and the rest literally was history. We lived in the same area, we met a couple of times for coffees and had some dinner dates. Our most memorable date was our first real date when he took me to his family ranch. I knew he was the one! Nothing was going to change my mind. Our love was undeniable. We had the same goals, the same interests, and the same reasons for being.

Covid had unfortunately hit at the time our love was flourishing and for some it may have not been the best timing, but for us it was perfect. We spent every day together and grew closer together. A year and half flew by so fast it was like a whirlwind. In that time we had experienced two miscarriages and somehow by the grace of God, we were blessed with our first little boy. The one thing I love about Steven, is he always listens to my dreams and makes them come true. When I told him I wanted to take maternity pictures with BIG, BIG cactus, he made it happen. So he flew me to Arizona where he made all my dreams come true. As we were taking our maternity pictures, I had no idea we were taking our engagement pictures as well. He turned our maternity pictures into a surprise engagement. It was the best day of my life and well the rest is now history, or technically is our book still being written.
